Countries

The MicroNed members support microfinance activities in a total of over 50 countries. Currently there are 12 focus countries, which means a minimum of 3 MicroNed members are active in those countries. For each of these countries one MicroNed member coordinates all microfinance efforts and is responsible for the drafting of a country study with intervention recommendations and for a country strategy, taking into account what other MicroNed members and other donors are pursuing. Special attention will be paid to the creation of an enabling environment for microfinance in these focus countries: support to the drafting of appropriate microfinance legislation, capacity building of networks of MFIs, support to central services or apex organisations, support to the establishment of credit bureaus, facilitation of linkages with the private sector training & consultancy providers, stimulation of policy dialogue and lobby of MFIs networks with government, political parties, banking sector, regulatory authorities and national/international donors.
